OUR VISION:

OUR VISION:

WHAT IS 10/35?
10/35 is SERI’s vision for the future where by 2035, 10-YEAR lifespans will be common among electronics, and ALL materials will be reused at end-of-life.
OUR THEORY OF CHANGE
EXTENDING LIFESPANS + RECYCLING = ELECTRONICS SUSTAINABILITY
The global e-waste problem is well documented and growing – by 2030, the world is expected to produce 82 million tons annually. To date, most solutions have centered around recycling, a powerful tool that promotes resource preservation and helps protect people and the planet.
But recycling alone won’t solve the e-waste problem because recycling only manages the waste we’ve already created. We must shift our focus from managing waste to removing it at every stage of the electronics lifecycle. That means keeping devices in use longer, then recovering and reusing all the materials at the true end of life.
A DATA-DRIVEN
DEMONSTRATION
As a powerful example of the impact of a reuse + recycling strategy, in 2024, the R2 Network processed 657,023 MT of electronics: 490,666 were recycled and 166,357 were reused.

And while R2 facilities recycled nearly 3 times more volume, reuse avoided 4,454,707 MT CO2e – almost 300x that of recycling.
Design. Software Support. Repair. ITAD. Remarketing. Policy. Recycling. Materials Choices.
10-year lifespans will become common rather than exceptional when devices are designed for longevity, software supports longer lifespans, repair and refurbishment become standard practice, policies work to enable reuse, and sustainability becomes a key consideration in every decision.
This is how we get to 10/35.
Let's Talk
10/35 is ambitious, and we're building it collaboratively. If your organization is interested in being part of this vision, we'd like to hear from you.
