We do that through a range of programs that work toward a vision that by 2035, 10-year lifespans of electronics will be common, and all materials reused at end-of-life.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) partners with the Chief Executive Officer to advance SERI’s growth ambitions by strengthening organizational infrastructure and enabling scalable global expansion. While the CEO is responsible for crafting SERI’s overall Vision and strategic roadmap, the COO is responsible for driving the execution of strategic priorities, ensuring alignment between goals and daily operations, and working across departments to streamline processes, support program development, and integrate key initiatives. As a member of the executive team, the COO facilitates cascading communication, removes barriers, and oversees organizational operations, including risk mitigation and oversight of core business functions.
KEY OUTCOMES OF THIS POSITION:
- SERI’s strategic priorities will be effectively translated into coordinated execution across teams, ensuring alignment between organizational goals, daily operations, and growth objectives.
- Organizational systems, processes, and cross-functional collaboration will be streamlined and scalable, enabling efficient operations and successful delivery of new and existing initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Steady State Organizational Leadership and Management responsibilities related to ongoing operational oversight, team alignment, and organizational performance.
- Drive performance across cross-functional teams to maintain strict alignment with the 10-year vision, 3-year picture, annual goals, and quarterly rocks—balancing short-term and long-term needs.
- Coach and manage the Management Team, which oversees the Marketing, Business Operations, Certifications, Standards Development, and Assurance functions, ensuring the pillar strategies of Skill-building, Systems-building, and Collective Action are achieved in line with SERI’s strategic plans.
- Integrate new lines of business from the 10/35 Lab’s pilots into Steady State departments, ensuring the vision and goals are achieved while navigating the necessary change management.
Organization-wide Structure and Systems responsibilities related to designing, implementing, and improving structures, systems, and processes to support scale and efficiency.
- Ensure the organization lives out SERI’s Core Values, integrating across the organization.
- Support and advise SERI team by providing strategic operational insights and executive-level problem-solving.
- Architect and scale organizational structures to maximize efficiency and ensure the effective delivery of SERI programs.
- Translate organizational strategy into technical and operational requirements, identifying specific areas for enhancement or systemic improvement.
- Manage complex programs and projects while mentoring staff to ensure consistent delivery and professional growth across the team.
In addition, the role will undertake other responsibilities as needed to support SERI’s strategic objectives and evolving priorities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3–5 years of executive leadership experience managing other leaders.
- Advanced business acumen (HR, Finance/Accounting, Legal, and Compliance).
- Strategic operational decision-making experience, with a proven ability to filter complex data into actionable operations aligned with organizational vision and strategy.
- Expertise in policy and documentation development, workflow design, and optimization.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Utilization of EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) to provide organizational structure.
- Experience working in a growth-stage small business.
- Leadership experience with implementation of Salesforce, Intact, or other ERP systems.
- Comfortable in a Microsoft 365 environment.
- Experience leading organizations certified to management systems like ISO 27001 or 9001.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit or remain stationary for extended periods of sedentary work.
- Ability to operate computer systems and perform detailed computer-based tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently interact via phone, video conferencing, and in-person meetings.
- Dedicated space to work full-time in a virtual environment.
- Sufficient Internet access for a full-time virtual work environment.

COMPENSATION
An attractive compensation package will be provided to the successful candidate commensurate with education and/or experience. SERI provides a 403b with matching contributions for retirement, a Health Reimbursement Account, Life insurance, and Disability insurance.
