From “Time is Ticking” to “Time’s Almost Up”
Dear R2 Certified facilities,
By now, you have probably seen our Time is Ticking feature in the R2 Newsletter. If you have not yet scheduled your transition audit, we are now here to tell you that time has just about run out. While you may be looking at the calendar and still seeing a full year left to transition to R2v3, as we have been communicating for months now, auditor availability is significantly impacting that timeline.
At this point, if you have not already scheduled a date with an auditor, it is critical that you do so as soon as possible. The reason for urgency is that there simply isn’t much auditor availability left between now and when R2:2013 expires in 12 months. This is due to the large number of facilities transitioning to R2v3, the increased demand for R2v3 and a number of new facilities getting certified, and the global worker shortage that’s hitting many industries, auditing included. This transition takes a group effort, and CB’s are doing everything they can to ensure it goes smoothly. The net impact is that auditors have very limited availability remaining, so schedule with one today to ensure you can still transition to R2v3 without having your certification lapse. A lapse would mean you’d start the process over as a new certification rather than a transition, costing your facility additional time and money.
Under normal circumstances, it is common to prioritize your own preferences for certain auditors and scheduling. However, the time for those preferences has passed, and it is now time to make transitioning to R2v3 your number one priority.
To successfully transition to R2v3, your flexibility is more important than ever. You may have to schedule with someone other than your preferred auditor. You may have to audit sooner than your expiration date might indicate. Or may need to consider different days or even weekends for your audit. As always, our priority is to support facilities around the world as they work toward electronics sustainability, and we want your transition to be as smooth as possible.
If you don’t already have a transition audit date on the calendar with your CB, please reach out to them and have a conversation today!
