R2 certified companies that are certified to OHSAS 18001 to meet Provision 1 requirements should be aware that it is being replaced by a new standard -- ISO 45001. Companies currently certified to OHSAS 18001 have three years to transition to the new ISO 45001 standard which was published earlier this month.
ISO 45001 is designed to integrate with other ISO management systems and shares the same terms, definitions and structure as ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 9001 (quality management). To learn more about ISO 45001, visit the ISO website. R2 certified companies currently certified to 18001 should contact their certifying body for details about the transition plan and deadlines.
