The R2 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met on June 19 and 20 in Austin, Texas to review and discuss public feedback on the proposed R2v3 Standard during the public comment period. With nearly 500 comments submitted by the public for consideration, the TAC’s primary focus during the meeting was to discuss and determine direction on the most substantive concerns that involve more detailed or significant potential changes to the R2v3 Draft that was released in April.
The TAC also reviewed a number of comments and proposed changes that potentially need clarifications in the applicability or level of the requirements, rather than major changes to the R2v3 Draft. The TAC decided to move forward with a number of the proposed approaches for these moderate changes and marked several others for further TAC discussion.
So far, changes that the TAC has decided to make based on public comments received will not change the overall format or structure of the R2v3 Standard, but are intended to provide better clarity on the requirements to ensure more consistent application. The TAC will continue to work through the remainder of the comments submitted to publish the new changes to the R2v3 Draft. This will be followed by another 45-day public comment period. At the completion of each round of the comment and revision processes, a final summary of all comments received, along with the TAC’s responses, will be posted for public review.
