Washington DC, USA – July 22, 2024
SERI is pleased to announce that it is now an Alliance Partner with the Circular Electronics Partnership (CEP). The CEP is a coordination platform for global organizations and businesses that are actively working on creating a circular electronics industry.
As an Alliance Partner, SERI will collaborate with CEP to develop the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Reporting Standard for Electronics. CEP focuses on pooling strategic partners to achieve common goals and facilitating activities to collectively reach those goals.
For over 15 years, SERI has successfully led the multi-stakeholder development of the global R2 Standard and implemented an independent certification program for the electronics industry. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and ANSI Accredited Standards Developer, SERI is uniquely positioned to help CEP develop robust and effective ESG reporting standards that will enhance transparency, accountability, and sustainability across the entire electronics value chain.
“Joining the CEP allows SERI to extend our commitment to transparency and sustainability in the electronics industry by helping to shape robust ESG reporting standards,” said SERI’s Chief Executive Officer, Corey Dehmey. “By establishing these standards, we aim to drive industry-wide accountability and foster a culture of social responsibility, ultimately leading to more sustainable practices across the entire electronics value chain.
SERI’s Board of Directors and its R2 Technical Advisory Committee comprise diverse groups of individuals representing recyclers, customers of recyclers, government, purchasing officials, nonprofit organizations, certification bodies, OEMs, and others. This type of collaboration is familiar to SERI and uniquely positions the organization as a catalyst for progress in the ESG Standard.
About SERI
SERI is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in the United States with a mission to help create a world where electronic products are reused and recycled in a way that promotes resource preservation, the well-being of the natural environment, and the health and safety of workers and communities. SERI has numerous programs working to protect the planet and enrich lives by championing sustainable actions throughout the entire electronics lifecycle.
About CEP
CEP is a partnership between the programmatic areas of our partner organizations that focus on the joint agenda of accelerating the circular transition for electronics. Each partner organization is represented by a Partner Representative. The six Partner Representatives together make up the Partner Committee, the core governing body of CEP. The private sector companies who make up the CEP Member base are at the heart of the activities the partners initiate towards the actions in the Roadmap. The Partner Committee and the Members are supported in coordination and collaboration by the Secretariat. Together, the Partner Committee, the Members, and the Secretariat make up CEP. They collaborate with the wider stakeholder network through Alliance Partnerships.
