It has come to our attention that there is a phishing scam targeting our R2 network, where unauthorized individuals are posing as SERI representatives and deceptively stating that specific facilities are not compliant with R2 or are requesting information through text messages.

SERI takes information privacy seriously. We do not request sensitive information through text, as this is not a secure method for communication. We also don’t advise others to use or not use any specific R2 facility or share information about pending inspections.

When it comes to verifying the status of any R2 Certification, SERI’s R2 Facility Search Tool is the only way to be sure. Use the “Find an R2 Certified Facility” link on the SERI website or go to https://r2directory.org to verify. Just search by facility name – if there is an R2 Certification associated with that facility, they’ll show up in the search results and from there, you can see if the certification is active, suspended, revoked, expired, or if the facility has moved or even closed.
