How are Campus Facilities and Multi-Site certifications changing?

< BACK

Multi-site Certifications are no longer allowed under Rv3.  This is to ensure a thorough audit of each facility instead of the sampling that was permitted under the Multi-site arrangement.  Although an audit of each facility is required each year, there are new options for some audits to be done remotely, such as one surveillance audit per cycle.

The definition of Campus Facilities has been expanded in the new Code of Practices, and no longer limits campus locations to the same metropolitan area.  The new definition:

“A separate location that has interconnected operations with the Controlling Facility for the joint processing and management of electronic equipment, component, or material streams.”

  • Each Campus Facility has its own unique scope of operations, but the combined operations of the Controlling Facility and all campus locations together are required to fulfill the scope of R2 Certification.
  • Each Campus Facility operates under the same management system and structure as the Controlling Facility and shall be audited by the CB at each audit.
  • The Campus Facility certification structure does not apply to stand-alone facilities that primarily source, process, and manage electronic equipment, components, or materials independent of the controlling location, and that can otherwise be R2 Certified as a single-site facility

For more information about Campus Facilities, refer to Table 3 in the new R2 Code of Practices.
