Other legal names & entities to include in Scope

< BACK

Q.  What is meant by the reference to legal names and entities that operate “in conjunction with” the R2 Facility, as indicated in requirement 1.(b)(4)?

In some situations, an R2 Facility may choose to maintain multiple business names and legal entities to manage different aspects of its R2 activities. This may be done to serve different industries or sectors, such as where one business operates as an ITAD service provider, while a separate entity is established to manage end-of-life materials recovery.  Another example of where a separate business entity may be established is for operations that are conducted outside of the R2 Facility.  This can include a variety of activities such as collection, mobile data destruction, or any other services provided at a customer’s site.

Regardless of the business name or legal entity that the R2 activities are conducted under, or whether they are conducted at the R2 Facility or not, all R2 certifiable activities must be covered under the facility’s scope of certification, and all business names and entities related to those operations must be identified on the R2 Certificate.
