R2 Guidance & Knowledge Base

When will Guidance on R2v3 be released?

< BACK

Many guidance resources have already been released as part of the new R2 Knowledge Base.  With R2v3, SERI is taking a new approach to guidance so that facilities can better understand the requirements and expected outcomes for R2v3.   Guidance is intended to offer further explanation of complex requirements in the R2 Standard along with examples and audit recommendations.   Guidance itself, however, is not auditable and cannot be cited in relation to any nonconformities. The explanations in Guidance are intended to prevent misinterpretation of the R2 Standard, not to add to, subtract from, or modify the R2 Standard.  With R2:2013, SERI provided a 58-page Guidance document and added several addendums over the years.

R2v3, however, was intentionally written using more common language and more prescriptive detail to provide clarity within the standard itself.  Lengthy guidance to support the Standard is no longer necessary.  We anticipate that feedback gained through the implementation phase, will help identify areas where additional clarity or guidance would be useful.  The new R2 Knowledge Base format will enable SERI to provide guidance in these areas in a more timely and ongoing manner, using training videos, articles, common Q&As, and other helpful resources.

Information in the Knowledge Base is organized according to the 10 CORE Requirements and the 6 PROCESS Requirements so that all available resources are easy to find.  The Knowledge Base also allows users to search by topic or key words.   New resources are being added to the Knowledge Base each week and SERI will continue to improve the layout and functionality.

If you have specific questions or would like to see a particular topic addressed, we invite you to use the ASK AN R2 EXPERT feature of the R2 Knowledge Base.  Common questions and topics will be addressed in future Knowledge Base articles or resources.
