SERI is pleased to introduce Sean De Vries as the new R2 Director. Among his responsibilities, Sean will be working with the R2 Technical Advisory Committee and leading the R2 Standard development process. He will also provide guidance for the application and implementation of the standard and educate various stakeholder groups. Sean brings considerable experience in standards development and oversight for the electronics reuse and recycling industry.
“Sean’s three-year tenure on the R2 Technical Advisory Committee and in-depth knowledge of the R2 Standard has allowed him to hit the ground running,” says SERI executive director Corey Dehmey. “His understanding of the industry, its various stakeholders, and standards development is a tremendous asset to SERI and we are excited to have Sean as part of the team.”
Prior to joining SERI, Sean was the Director of the Recycler Qualification Office (RQO), an organization established to audit and approve reuse and recycling organizations prior to use under the industry-led end-of-life electronics recycling programs across Canada. He also led the development process for the Electronics Reuse and Refurbishing Program (ERRP) and the Recycler Qualification Program (RQP). Sean was also active in the development and implementation of the provincial electronics stewardship programs and served as the inaugural Chair of the Board of Directors for the four not-for-profit stewardship organizations.
