At the IAITAM Conference held last month in San Diego, SERI presented the session, “Don’t let your retired assets become a liability.” The purpose was to educate IT asset managers about the risks of using unqualified vendors or selling retired IT assets to the highest bidder without functionality testing. The audience was also informed about the ways R2 Certified ITAD providers and recyclers reduce non-compliance risks in the areas of data security, environmental protection, import-export regulations, and protect their brand and bottom line from the consequences of such incidents.
In a survey of session attendees, more than 93% said the information was very applicable to their organization and found it informative. This is a message that SERI continues to share with policy makers and the customers/suppliers of R2 certified facilities in many different venues and forums. Marketplace awareness and the positive impact of the R2 Certification Program continue to grow globally, with almost 900 R2 Certified facilities in 32 countries improving how electronics are reuse and recycled. If you are interested in a meeting or presentation by SERI to educate your team, customers, or other audiences about responsible reuse and recycling, please contact Patty Osterberg at firstname.lastname@example.org.
