SERI is pleased to announce the hiring of Mike Easterbrook as R2 Director, effective October 17, 2022. In this position, Mike is charged with guiding R2’s future including the completion of the transition to R2v3, the addition of solar panels to the standard, its continued development, and the global adoption and growth of the world’s most comprehensive standard for electronics reuse and recycling.

Having spent the past nine years at the GlenView Group, Inc. as the Director of EH&S Programs and Sr. Certifications Consultant, Mike has over 15 years of experience in various roles within the electronics reuse and recycling industry including regulatory compliance officer, certifications consultant, internal auditor, compliance auditor, and as a lead auditor for Certification Bodies. Mike has experience with standards development through his work as a technical member to the development of UL 110 Standard for Mobile Phones and has been a member of the R2 TAC since January 2021, where he also served as a member of the Consensus Body. Mike earned his J.D. from Western State College of Law in Fullerton, CA, and had his own practice as an attorney defending Stormwater Citizen Action Suits under the Clean Water Act.

Said SERI’s Executive Director Corey Dehmey, “We’re very happy to have Mike join us on our mission in pursuit of electronics sustainability, doing our part to achieve a true global circular economy. His passion for sustainability, experience implementing and auditing the R2 Standard, and participation on the R2 TAC gives Mike a very solid foundation for the R2 Director position.”

“I am so excited to join the SERI team and take on the role of the R2 Director,” said Easterbrook. “I feel like the last fifteen years of my career of working in the industry and with the standard has led me to this point. I look forward to the challenge, and the opportunity to continue to improve and expand the R2 standard on a global basis.”
